Adaptive Cognitive Manufacturing System (ACMS) – A New Paradigm

Abstract:

Manufacturing systems and strategies changed over many decades seeking to minimize cost, enhance quality, reliability, and efficiency, better manage increasing products variety, and maximize profit and ensure sustainability. A new Adaptive Cognitive Manufacturing Systems (ACMS) paradigm, its drivers, enablers, and characteristics

including cognitive adaptation is presented. Human-centric collaboration of workers and smart machines and applications are demonstrated, and the evolution of Cognitive Digital Twins are discussed. Future research and education challenges towards achieving smarter, more adaptive, and more sustainable manufacturing systems are outlined.

Mass Customization’s Role in Human Experiences

Abstract:

Experiences are not just for customers anymore, for people are at the very heart of the Experience Economy. We must stage experiences for guests and visitors. For employees and suppliers. For students and beneficiaries. And each and every experience we have as human beings are inherently personal, for they happen inside of us, in reaction to the events staged outside of us. That’s why Mass Customization has an ever-increasing role in the human experience to reach inside of people and engage them in that inherently personal way, and thereby create a memory, which is the hallmark of any experience. In this virtual session Joe Pine, author of Mass Customization and The Experience Economy: Competing for Customer Time, Attention, and Money, will delineate how companies can mass customize to provide ever-greater value in their interactions, encounters, and guidance with and for the human beings within their ecosystems.
